I’ve been the person staring at a pricing page trying to work out what 6 seats at “$28 per user per month” actually costs. It’s never the number on the big bold tile — it’s that number, times your whole team, times the months you forgot to remove the freelancer who left in March.

So Handl is flat tiers, not per-head. The top plan is $199 however big your team gets. You hire a designer, your bill doesn’t move. Per-user tools quietly punish you for growing — every new hire raises the bill. We don’t.

And the transaction fee? Here’s the honest version: we make a little more when you actually get paid — which means our incentives are pointed at the same thing yours are. Not seats. Not upsells. Money landing in your account.

What is Handl?
Handl automates billing for agencies and freelancers. You set up your milestones, connect your project management tool, and when work is done — the invoice goes out automatically. No manual chasing, no awkward "hey just following up on that invoice" emails.
What's the trial?
Every plan comes with a 7-day free trial. Run your real projects through it, let it send a real invoice — if it doesn't make getting paid easier, walk away.
What are the fees?
Handl charges a 0.5% platform fee on card payments (0.25% on bank payments), the same on every plan — plus standard Stripe processing fees, always shown transparently on every transaction. If a client pays you outside Handl, there's no fee.
Which plan should I pick?
Solo? Freelancer. A few of you? Team gets you up to 3 seats plus pipelines, forecasting and custom payment schedules. Bigger crew, or you want custom branding and AI-assistant access — Agency, with unlimited team members.
How does the invoicing automation actually work?
Connect Handl to Monday, Asana, Jira, or Linear. Set which milestones trigger an invoice. When you mark the milestone complete, Handl generates the invoice and sends it to the client. If they don't pay, Handl follows up on a schedule you set. You just do the work.
What does it integrate with?
Project management: Monday, Asana, Jira, Linear. Time tracking: Harvest, Toggl, Clockify, Hubstaff. Accounting: Xero, QuickBooks. Payments: Stripe.
How do you handle scope creep?
Handl tracks what's in and out of scope. When a client asks for something extra, you log it, send a change order for approval, and once it's signed off, it gets added to the next invoice automatically. No more doing extra work and forgetting to bill for it.
Do my clients need to sign up for anything?
No. They get a link, they click it, they see the invoice and pay. That's it. If they want, there's a client portal showing project progress and all their invoices — but they never have to log in just to pay you.
How is this different from FreshBooks or QuickBooks?
Those are accounting tools with invoicing bolted on. Handl is built for project-based billing — it connects to your actual workflow (your PM tool) and handles the billing automatically. FreshBooks still makes you create every invoice by hand. QuickBooks is great at accounting but has no idea what's happening in your projects.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade anytime from your settings. Changes take effect on your next billing cycle.
Do you offer annual pricing?
Not yet — we're looking at this for the future.
Can I pass card fees on to my clients?
Yes. Handl supports card surcharging so you can pass processing costs through to clients, with full disclosure and compliance built in.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Handl uses TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 at rest. We never store card details — payments go directly to our PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processor. Read our full Security & Trust page for details.
