What syncs
What Handl does with Airwallex
Airwallex is the payout rail for agencies whose Wise account can't fund transfers from Handl, or who simply hold their money in Airwallex.
Pay runs from your balances.
Statements are drafted from approved hours, approved by you, then paid from your per-currency Airwallex balances.
When
When you approve a run. A person approves every run, and nothing moves before that.
Bank payouts to contractors.
Each contractor is paid to their bank account. The contractor receives the full statement total and you wear the fee.
When
Bank payouts only. Handl doesn't pay to a contractor's Airwallex account.
Status and remittance.
Handl tracks each payout's status through an Airwallex webhook and emails the contractor a remittance. Paid history shows in their portal.
When
As Airwallex reports each payout's status.

Airwallex → Developer → API keys.
Step 2: Create a key and tick Balances and Payouts.

Time in, books out
Hours in. Pay out. Books updated.
Airwallex sits in the middle of the same flow as the rest of Handl: the hours come in, the client invoice goes out, the contractor gets paid, and the books stay in your accounting tool.
Hours in
Harvest, Toggl, Clockify, Hubstaff and Upwork timesheets supply the approved hours that each statement is drafted from.
Handl
Drafts the statement, runs the approval and books the cost to the project.
Airwallex
Pays the contractor's bank account from your balance, fee shown on every payout.
QuickBooks or Xero
Client invoices and payments sync as they do today. Approved expenses and adjustments land in Handl project costs.
